Cardabilities Challenge #62

In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, I reached into some paper stashes. I wanted to be more simple in idea and layout. With just weeks to go till Christmas, this was the perfect way to push me in that direction.

With the holidays just around the corner, I was inspired to create a holiday piece for my home decor. So I ventured into Michaels in th search for something I didn't already have. This unfinished bird house called my name. I reached over and was instantly drawn to its curvy roofline and log cabin like design. I chose some paint and flowers and headed off with just a vision. First I painted it a cranberry color, then once dry I applied Martha Stewart crackle medium. Finally I applied an off white acrylic paint and allowed it to dry overnight. Then I added the holiday touches to give it the feel I wanted. I used glue to add white sparkles on the roofline and base of the birdhouse, so it had a snowy feel. Then sprayed the house with a finishing spray to help set the glitter. Lastly I trimmed, cut and hot glued flowers around the house to balance the design. I was very pleased with the final outcome of the birdhouse and will be making more for gift giving.
